I haven't watched Miami Vice Series since it was on in the 80's and rewatching Miami Vice DVDs after more than 20 years has been so enjoyable. This show was so well made, film, camera work, acting of the leads. Some of the stand alone episodes weren't that great but this is always the case of any long running show. Don Johnson was brilliant as Sonny Crockett and I always enjoyed Phillip Michael Thomas as Ricardo Tubbs. The two actors played so well together.
The music of Miami Vice DVD is clever, important, and there for various scenes. The actors are top notch and the scenes sometimes linger, as if it were more than just an hour show. The camera angles are sometimes different. The effects or stunts seem expensive. You have this in Star Trek original series dvd , in the early Wild Wild West, maybe Have Gun Will Travel, in MASH DVD, and in Buffy DVDs and her 'scooby gang', in the first year or so, at least. And it's the same for Miami Vice, and for Mann's Crime Story, which followed. Some of the better episodes seem more like mini-movies, than tv episodes.
